Welcome to Tanu Beach and our accommodation in Samoa. We offer you a hostel and holiday in our family resort, teaching and showing the rich culture to backpackers in the most beautiful beach surroundings. Enjoy traditional lifestyle on the white sandy beach of Manase on the Island of Savaii.
Tanu Beach started 11 or 12 years ago when travelers came to our village Manase to enjoy the beautiful beach and conventional life. A few "fales" (huts) were built the traditional way directly on the beach in untouched nature and we had the pleasure to share our food and life with our guests. At this time we didn't know how important it was for people from the western world to go back to nature and experience people with an open heart, as we live this way every day. Today a few more travelers are visiting us and we have more "Fales" (huts), but the nature and our heart is still there and we love to share it with you...
In our country, love for your family and friends is much more important than money and if you came 100 years ago you would have staid for free. Today we do need your small contribution to bring food on the table and to keep a good international standard. We will do all we can to give you a very special experience together with our family and we will also be happy to show you the rest of the island if you decide to join us in one of our tours.
Let us take you to the beautiful "Afu Aau" waterfall on the south coast of Savaii. Here you will be able to swim in the cool pool underneath the fall. At the spectacular "Taga Blow whole" you will be able to see the sea water shooting up 30 meter high in the sky from a whole in the rock. Tapa making (a kind of natural material made from the bark of a tree) is a traditional way of making art and cloths for cultural events which we will be able to watch during the trip. Our national rainforest is protected in a beautiful area at the western end of the island, called "Falealupo". In the forest you will be able to walk between the tree on the canopy walkway. At the black lava fields on the north eastern side, it can still be seen how the lava was flowing at the volcanic eruption in the beginning of the century.
